Frugal Travel Tips & Ideas

There are so many fun ideas for family vacations on a
budget. There are also some great ebooks and sites that
can help you save a ton of money on trips. Here are some
great tips with really fun ideas for your family.

Kid Friendly Travel - Why not Disneyland or Disneyworld?

If you will be planning a vacation to sunny Florida to get
some fun in the sun, then it is worth every penny to invest
in The Ultimate Disney World Savings Guide! I cannot
tell you how fabulous a resource this is. Just check it out
for yourself, you will learn every trick to
saving money at
Disneyworld
before you book your trip from an
ex-Disneyworld cast member! She knows the inside scoop!

For Disneyland, I suggest staying at one of the hotels
right outside the gates. You can find deals at some really
nice hotels for as low as $60 a night! Do some research on
the surrounding Disney hotels. Call AAA, Costco Travel,
and check out Priceline.com for the best deals.

Staycation

Why not stay home!? Try a staycation! Here are some fun
ideas for vacationing at home:

- Camp in your own backyard! Get out the firewood and
cook your franks and beans followed up by some smores
in your firepit or BBQ! Tell some ghost stories, play flash
light tag around the yard, make shadow puppets, and
sing some songs. Follow it all up with spending the night
under the stars! OR camp in your living room - use the
fireplace and get some plants to put around the tent.

- Have everyone stay home from school and work for the
week. Plan fun family outings, hikes, lake/beach days, go
to the pool, and have some adventures in your local area.
It's amazing all the fun free things there are to do when
you are a tourist in your own area. Let the kids pick one
day each to plan. That will help keep the excitement
going. You could even make a fun calendar for the week
so everyone can plan it together and know what to look
forward to each day.

Beach Vacation

Who doesn't love going to the beach for a vacation!?
Well, beaches can be enjoyed in the lap of luxury or in a
more frugal way that can still be loads of fun! Here are
some ideas for an inexpensive beach vacation:

- Go at the beginning of the off season (while it's still
warm) or right before high season (when it's all warming
up).

- Find campgrounds right on the beach! This is a really
inexpensive and fun way to enjoy the beach.

Camping

What family doesn't love camping? From finding the
perfect campsite to roasting marshmellows, it's all so
much fun. Pack your tent, food, kids, and well, a carload
full and head off to a campsite of choice. After the tent is
set up, explore the woods, beach, lake, or whatever
surroundings are around you. Enjoy!

Road Trip

You can make this as frugal as you want. Check travel
sites and stop in small towns along the way to ensure
cheaper rates. Or stay in main towns/cities and check
Priceline and all other travel sites for the best deals. One
thing I would consider on a road trip is an RV. You could
save money on accomadations and food! Road trips are
fun because you can visit all kinds of different places on
all the same trip. It's an adventure the entire time. From
purple mountains to roaming buffalo, beaches, and more -
it really is fun to explore the different areas. Just
remember to pack lots of coloring books, games, and
snacks for the driving times to keep the kids busy.
